Deputies in Fontana Attempted Traffic Stop on E-Motorcycle and Were Led on Pursuit; Juvenile Suspect Arrested

SUMMARY: On Sunday, March 8, 2026, at about 1:22 P.M., Deputy Garcia-Perez of the Fontana Sheriff’s Station attempted a traffic stop on an electric motorcycle ( E-Motorcycle) travelling west on Slover Avenue, near Locust Avenue. The male rider disregarded the emergency lights and siren and continued west on Slover Avenue. The suspect entered the Target Shopping Center and ran numerous stop signs in the parking lot, posing a significant risk to other motorists and pedestrians. The suspect made his way through traffic and eluded deputies.
During an area check, Garcia-Perez found the suspect travelling east on Valley Boulevard, in Fontana. A subsequent traffic enforcement stop was initiated, at which time the suspect failed to yield. A traffic pursuit was initiated with the assistance of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Aviation Division.
After an approximate 5-mile pursuit with speeds reaching 40-50 miles per hour (MPH), the suspect was apprehended on the Pacific Electric Trial (walking/bike path), adjacent to the 960 block of 2nd Street, in Rialto. The suspect was found to be a 16-year-old Hispanic male juvenile. The E-Motorcycle was impounded, and the suspect was booked into custody at San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall.
The public is reminded that E-Motorcycles are powered by a motor and travel faster than 28 MPH. E-Motorcycles require registration as an off-highway vehicle and are not legal on public roads, sidewalks, bike paths, or city streets. E-Motorcycles are only permitted on private property and off-highway vehicle trails. Common vehicle code violations for E-Motorcycles include: 4000(a)(1)- Unregistered Vehicle, 12500(a)- Unlicensed Driver, 21663- Operation on Sidewalk, 14607- Parent Knowingly Allows Minor to Operate Vehicle.
