Advisory

Winter Weather Advisory until 06:00AM Wednesday

* WHAT...Snow and Blowing Snow reducing visibility to 1/2 mile or less at times. Additional snow accumulation up to 2 inches. Winds gusting between 40 and 50 mph with isolated gusts as high as 60 mph. Wind chill values 10 below to 20 below zero.

* WHERE...Southern Alaska Peninsula.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM AKDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities reduced to one half mile or less due to blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Strong winds could cause extensive damage to power lines.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Due to the showery nature of these heavy snow showers produced by the clouds streaming off the ice edge, conditions can vary greatly over a short distance.

* AFFECTED AREAS: SOUTHERN ALASKA PENINSULA

Instructions:

Slow down and use caution while traveling. Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat.
