Press Release: Retail Theft Suspects Arrested with Assist from Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) Technology

On January 29, 2026, two suspects entered the Cycle Gear store located at 2426 El Camino Real in Redwood City and stole more than $4,000 worth of merchandise. The suspects grabbed multiple clothing items and quickly exited the store without paying before leaving the area in a red Subaru Impreza.

A store employee was able to capture an image of the vehicle, including the license plate, which investigators later entered into the Redwood City Police Department’s ALPR system.

On March 10, 2026, at approximately 12:17 p.m., officers received an ALPR alert indicating the suspect vehicle had been detected in Redwood City. Officers located the vehicle in the 1900 block of El Camino Real and conducted a traffic stop.

Three individuals were inside the vehicle: two adult males and one adult female.

During the investigation, officers positively identified the two male occupants as the suspects involved in the January 29 theft. Cristian Alexis SilvaGarcia, 33, of San Jose, and Josiah Alexander Delamora, 26, of San Jose, were arrested and later booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility for violation of Penal Code 487 – Grand Theft.

Technology such as ALPR helps officers quickly identify vehicles connected to criminal activity and provides investigators with valuable leads that can assist in solving crimes.
