Detective Hansen is honored as Officer of the Year for her investigative skill, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to protecting vulnerable victims. Since joining the department in 2019, she has earned a reputation as a trusted investigator capable of handling complex, sensitive, and high-impact cases. Over the past year, she led or supported investigations involving violent crime, sexual assault, crimes against children, elder abuse, and organized retail theft, often navigating delayed reporting, digital evidence challenges, and multi-jurisdictional coordination. Her persistence, attention to detail, and victim-centered approach have resulted in major felony convictions, lengthy prison sentences, and praise from prosecutors and partner agencies. Whether rebuilding trust with victims or coordinating large investigative efforts, she demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, and integrity. Hansen’s consistent performance, teamwork, and commitment to justice reflect the very best qualities of law enforcement and exemplify the professionalism her department strives to deliver every day. Aly was also selected amongst officers from neighboring departments as the Sonoma County Law Enforcement Association's Officer of the Year.

He also teaches Community Academy courses that strengthen understanding between law enforcement and residents and serves on the Community Impact Response Team addressing ongoing public safety and quality-of-life concerns. Though much of his work happens quietly, his compassion, professionalism, and dedication uplift those around him and embody the true spirit of this award.
