Detective Derrick McGinnis with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 25-year-old Joseph Francis Fortin, Jr., of Marion with felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and felony Larceny. He was issued a secured bond of $10,000.
On Feb. 12, Deputy Seth Leopold received a report about a stolen truck and trailer. The victim stated an employee had taken his 2014 GMC Sierra and trailer while he was out of town.
The following day, the truck was located in Old Fort after being pulled over on U.S. 70 West with Fortin as the driver. The trailer was later located at a nearby residence of an individual who was friends with Fortin.
Old Fort Police Department assisted with the incident.
