Severe Weather Update 9: March 2026 Kona Low Storm
Details
The City continues to respond to storm impacts across Oahu. Heavy rain and gusty winds are expected through the day. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant as flooding and widespread power outages are affecting areas across the island.
Use extreme caution outdoors and when driving. Avoid outdoor activities until the storm has passed.
Numerous road closures are in effect as a result of storm impacts. Be aware of hazardous road conditions and debris. Follow all instructions from emergency officials and first responders on scene. If a traffic light is out, treat the intersection as an all-way stop.
City and emergency management officials continue to actively monitoring weather conditions, stream gauges, and water levels in dams and levees. There are no evacuations ordered at this time. The City will provide updates if needed.
Residents living in dam evacuation zones and other flood-prone areas are encouraged to remain vigilant as heavy rain and possible flooding are forecast over the next several days. Find out if you are in a dam or levee evacuation zone at: www.honolulu.gov/damevac.

Shelters remain open for residents and visitors impacted by the storm. Locations and other details can be found at https://p.veoci.com/hnlshelter.
City Closures:
City offices remain closed today. Curbside rubbish collection is suspended from Kailua to Laie. Skyline operations are interrupted by widespread power outages. Check https://honolulu.gov/dts/skyline for service updates.
Officials are monitoring the situation and will announce updates to City operations ahead of Monday business hours.
