On 03/13/2026 at 5:16 PM, Santa Maria PD Officers responded to the Azure Apartment complex of a suspect armed with a knife who threatened a victim. The suspect was initially seen inside the building but was not located at that time. Investigating officers provided clothing and suspect description to officers in the area.
At approximately 7:33 PM, GST detectives conducted a follow-up check at the location located the suspect. When detectives attempted to detain him, the suspect violently resisted and fought with officers. A TASER was deployed, and after continued resistance a second TASER deployment was required before officers were able to take the suspect into custody and secure him in a WRAP restraint.
One officer sustained injuries during the altercation and was transported to Marian Hospital for evaluation before being released. Due to the suspect’s recent pattern of violent criminal activity, a bail increase was requested and approved.
