| On March 7, 2026, deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Flory Avenue in the City of Moorpark, following a disturbance at a large party. During the investigation, it was determined that an argument between two individuals with a prior conflict escalated into a physical altercation in the street and an adjacent parking lot. During the incident, a suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple rounds at two victims, one of whom was inside a vehicle attempting to leave the area. The vehicle was struck multiple times by gunfire as it fled the scene. No one was struck by the gun fire. Detectives with the East County Major Crimes Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. Three suspects were taken into custody during the early morning hours of March 8, 2026. As the investigation progressed, detectives identified an additional juvenile suspect as the individual responsible for discharging the firearm. A search warrant was obtained for the suspect’s residence. On the morning of March 17, 2026, the Simi Valley Police Department SWAT Team served the search warrant at a residence in Simi Valley. The suspect was located at the residence and taken into custody without incident. During the service of the warrant, evidence related to the shooting was recovered. The juvenile suspect was booked at the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center for PC 664/187 – Attempted Murder.
