Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect in Aggravated Assault Shooting
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. requests the public’s help in identifying the suspect pictured, who shot a victim in the leg on March 13, 2026.
Police responded to University Hospital on reports that a victim had been shot at approximately 10 p.m. in the 200 block of South Orange Avenue. The victim and the suspect appeared to have an argument when the suspect shot him in the leg near Littleton Avenue. The suspect, described as a tall Black male with a medium complexion, fled west on South Orange Avenue. He wore a black Nike ski mask, a gray hooded sweatshirt, pants, a black coat, and gray sneakers.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
