No Pets in Parked Cars
As temperatures rise, SVPD would like to remind our community: never leave your pet in a parked vehicle.
Even on a mild day, the temperature inside a car can increase rapidly, putting your pet at serious risk of heatstroke or even death within minutes. On a 70-degree day, a vehicle’s interior can reach 100 degrees in just 20 minutes. Cracking a window does little to keep the car cool, and even parked in the shade, temperatures can still climb quickly.
If you cannot take your pet with you, please leave them safely at home.
If you see an animal in distress inside a vehicle, please call our non-emergency number at 805-583-6950.
