Narrative:

During the early morning hours of November 23, 2025, deputies assigned to the Camarillo Police Station responded to a possible robbery which had occurred near Barry Street at Fulton Street. Once on scene deputies contacted the adult victim. Deputies discovered a robbery had not occurred and the suspects had already fled the scene. Deputies quickly established the adult male victim had been battered to the point of losing consciousness, a violation of California Penal Code Section 245(a)(4) – [ Assault likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury]. As the investigation progressed, deputies learned the adult male victim was battered by multiple unknown suspects.

Based on the violence and severity of the crime, detectives within the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) began an investigation. Over the next several months, detectives worked to identify the suspects involved in the assault. Multiple search warrants were authored and signed by Magistrates of the Ventura County Superior Court.

Based on the warrants written and evidence obtained, detectives were able to identify three suspects involved in the assault. The suspects were identified as, City of Camarillo resident, Ricky Cervantes, and two City of Oxnard residents, identified as Daniel Gonzalez and Joshua Ontiveros. Additionally, detectives discovered the suspects worked in concert to commit the assault, a violation of California Penal Code Section 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime. Detectives developed probable cause to arrest Cervantes, Gonzalez, and Ontiveros for a violation of PC 245(a)(4) and PC 182(a)(1).
Based on evidence from the investigation, detectives authored a search warrant for Cervantes, Gonzalez, and Ontiveros’ residences, property, vehicles, and persons. The search warrant was signed by a Magistrate of the County of Ventura on 03/17/2026.

Camarillo SEU worked with various investigative units within the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office to serve all search warrants simultaneously. On 03/20/2026, at approximately 0700 hours, detectives served the signed search warrants at Cervantes’ residence located in the 900 Block of Skeel Drive in the City of Camarillo, Gonzalez’ residence located in the 1200 Block of Felicia Court in Oxnard, and Ontiveros’ residence located in the 300 Block of Riverpark Boulevard in the City of Oxnard.

Cervantez, Gonzales, and Ontiveros were all swiftly taken into custody for the aforementioned charges and later booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
