We remain committed to addressing the communities’ concerns about disruptive and reckless e-bike/e-motorcycle riders. Yesterday our traffic unit conducted an e-bike/e-motorcycle operation in the cities of Agoura Hills, Calabasas and Westlake Village. The operation resulted in 1 arrest where a juvenile failed to obey a lawful order after fleeing from a traffic stop, 7 tows and 23 citations including Unsafe Speed, Failure to Yield, Cell Phone, Stop Sign, Helmet Required Under 18 Years Old, and several other violations.
E-bike emergency room visits have surged, resulting in a significant increase in head trauma, fractures, and internal injuries.
We ask that parents educate themselves and their children on the e-bike classification laws as well as riding and rules of the road safety.
