Officers with the Santa Maria Police Department responded to a report of an intoxicated individual allegedly threatening residents with a knife at a local residence.
Upon arrival, officers contacted an adult male who was not wearing a shirt and was holding a pair of scissors. Following an on-scene investigation, officers determined the individual had not made any direct threats with the object but was exhibiting aggressive behavior and attempting to engage in physical altercations with others at the residence.
The individual, who was not a resident of the home but had reportedly been invited to a gathering, was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.
The situation was resolved safely due to the officers’ calm demeanor and application of their training, which contributed to a controlled and effective response.
