City Storm Response Update: Sunday 3/22
Boil Water Notice Remains in Effect:
Due to potential damage to the water system caused by the storm, the Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) is reminding all water users on the North Shore from Mokulēʻia to Turtle Bay to boil any water pulled from the tap prior to consumption as a precaution. This boil water notice is in effect until further notice. DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for three minutes. The BWS will announce when it is no longer necessary to boil the water.
Water tankers have been positioned at:
- Waialua Community Association at 66-434 Kamehameha Hwy.
- Banzai SkatePark at 59-460 Kamehameha Hwy.
- Waialua District Park Recreation Center at 67-180 Goodale Ave.

Clean up & Flood safety:
Take photos or videos of damage to your home and property for insurance and damage reporting then begin clean up as soon as you are able. Mold and mildew can grow quickly after a flood. Be careful as floodwaters can cause structures to shift and become unstable. Learn more about safe clean up at www.honolulu.gov/dem/flood.
Request assistance:
There are many organizations ready to help impacted residents recover from the storm. If you need assistance, contact the Hawaii Red Cross at 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767) or Aloha United Way by dialing 211. Donations Information:
As community members gather to support our impacted friends and neighbors, the Hawaii Voluntary Organizations Active and Disaster and the City have the following advice on how to ensure your efforts can have the most impact.
- At this time, please do not drop off donated items at evacuation shelters or assembly areas.
- Financial donations to trusted non-profit partners are the most effective way to support relief efforts, as they allow organizations to quickly respond to specific and changing needs.
- If you would like to contribute or volunteer, please contact or donate through established service providers with robust networks such as:
- American Red Cross Hawaiʻi
- Blood Bank of Hawaii
- The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division
- Aloha United Way
- Hawaiʻi Foodbank
- Hawaiian Humane Society
- Other trusted non-profit and community partners supporting relief efforts
This helps responders ensure that all contributions can be distributed across areas in need quickly, efficiently, and in a coordinated manner.
The City will continue to provide updates as response and recovery efforts are ongoing.
