Fire Prevention
From the N.C. Forest Service ---
With the significant lack of rainfall over an extended period, all of North Carolina is experiencing moderate to extreme drought.
Fire danger is high due to dry vegetative fuels coupled with hot, dry and breezy conditions. With poor moisture recovery overnight, increased fire danger could continue over several days. Dry grasses, dead leaves and other vegetative debris could easily ignite and spread quickly.
Postpone outdoor burning if you can. Let yard debris burns wait. If you must burn, use extreme caution and take proper precautions with all outdoor fire. Use extreme caution when handling potential ignition sources such as machinery and farm equipment.
