Help update the Vision Zero Action Plan
Hoboken residents are invited to take a public survey and provide input for the City’s updated Vision Zero Action Plan. As part of her first executive order, Mayor Emily B. Jabbour reaffirmed Hoboken’s commitment to eliminating traffic deaths and all injuries by 2030 and is launching a community-driven process to guide the next phase of improvements. The project team will use community feedback to help identify priorities, inform safety strategies, and ensure streets are accessible.
Residents can take the survey at https://arcg.is/1mWSTa5 before it closes on Thursday, April 2, at 11:59 p.m.
Community meeting for 511-521 Newark St. announced
The City of Hoboken invites residents to a community meeting on April 13, at 6 p.m. at Connors Elementary School, 201 Monroe St., to discuss the proposed redevelopment project at 511-521 Newark St. The project team will discuss the proposed 9-story mixed-use property, which includes 54 residential units, five of which would be affordable housing, as well as ground floor retail space, 54 indoor bicycle parking spaces for building residents, and a green roof.
The building is proposed to be set back from the property line to provide a dedicated loading/drop-off zone along Newark Street, as well as a sidewalk-level, two-way bike lane, which will ultimately serve as a segment of the Green Circuit, a multi-modal pathway envisioned to encircle the entirety of Hoboken. The proposed segment along 511-521 Newark St. is part of a larger plan to create a protected bike lane that connects the existing protected Observer Highway bike lane and the NJ Transit bikeway between Newark Street and the Second Street Light Rail.
The last community meeting on the project was held virtually in June 2025 and there have been no project changes. To watch the last meeting, go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxc7Opot-4I.
