Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested Following Rancho Cucamonga Shooting: Additional Firearms, Narcotics Seized

LOCATION: 11700 block of Malaga Drive, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT(S): Sean Soomin Hwangbo, 37-year-old male, Resident of Rancho Cucamonga
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Saturday, March 21, 2026, at approximately 10:23 p.m. deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station responded to a call for service reference a shooting. The reporting party advised dispatch they had just been shot by an unknown suspect.
Deputies arrived on scene and heard additional gunshots at the location. An extensive area check was conducted, and the suspect, later identified as Sean Soomin Hwangbo was located hiding in the bushes with firearms in his possession. Hwangbo complied with deputies’ commands and was taken into custody. A search warrant was authored for Hwangbo’s residence where additional firearms, U.S. currency, ammunition, and suspected cocaine was seized. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the right arm, was transported to a local hospital, and is recovering.
Hwangbo was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for PC664/187- attempted murder.
