Public Advisory – Senior Assassin Activity in San Mateo
The San Mateo Police Department would like to make the community aware that local high school seniors may be participating in a game commonly known as “Senior Assassin.”
This activity often involves students using water guns or replica-style toy blasters to “eliminate” other participants. While intended as a game, these items can closely resemble real firearms, especially from a distance or in low-light conditions. This may cause alarm to residents and could result in emergency calls or a significant law enforcement response.
For the safety of all involved and the broader community, we ask that:
• Students avoid playing in public spaces, near roadways, or on private property without permission
• Participants do not carry or display items that could be mistaken for real weapons
• Parents and guardians speak with their students about the potential risks and consequences
• Community members report suspicious activity promptly, but be aware this game may be occurring
Our priority is to ensure the safety of everyone in our community. We appreciate your cooperation and awareness.
For emergencies, always call 9-1-1. For non-emergency concerns, contact the San Mateo Police Department’s non-emergency line at (650) 522-7700.
Thank you for helping keep San Mateo safe.
