Dear Residents,
Please be advised that a Total Burn Ban is now in effect for the Village of Chama.
Effective immediately Thursday, March 26, 2026, all outdoor burning is strictly prohibited. This ban will remain in place until sufficient moisture is received or until lifted by the Fire Chief.
This means:
- No campfires
- No fire pits
- No trash or debris burning
- No charcoal grills
- No open flames outdoors
If it creates a flame outdoors, it is not allowed.
Due to current conditions such as high winds, dry vegetation, and increased wildfire risk, this measure is necessary to protect our community.
This ban will be strictly enforced, and violations may result in fines or citations.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping the Village of Chama safe.
