The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from March 15 to March 21.
March 15th
Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave at Lincoln Ave:
At 1:06 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After booking at the El Cerrito Police Department, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
Warrant Arrest/Controlled Substance/Paraphernalia – Baxter Creek Park:
At 10:53 AM, while on a foot patrol in Baxter Creek Park, an officer arrested a suspect with a warrant. During a search incident to arrest, the suspect was found to possess controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. They were issued a citation and released from the scene.
Recovered Stolen E-Bike – 900 block of Elm St: At 1250 hours, while handling an unrelated suspicious vehicle detail, an officer was flagged down by a neighbor regarding a suspected stolen E-Bike in the driveway of the vacant residence. The owner was located and the stolen bike was returned.
Theft - 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 9:17 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect exited the business with unpaid merchandise.
Attempted Vandalism - Portola Dr/San Pablo Ave:
At 9:44 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect attempted to hit the victim’s vehicle with a metal rod, but did not cause any damage.
March 16th
Stolen Vehicle - 11775 San Pablo Ave:
At 7:12 PM, an officer reports a delivery driver exited his vehicle and left it running to go pick up an order. The suspect entered the vehicle and attempted to drive away before being confronted by the driver. The suspect stopped the vehicle and fled the area on foot. An officer circulating the area located the suspect approximately a block away. The driver refused to assist any further with the investigation and did not want to pursue charges. The suspect was released at the scene.
March 17th
Stolen Vehicle – 2300 Block of Mono Ave:
At 8:42 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen.
Distribution of Intimate Images Without Consent – 2000 Block of Junction Ave
At 12:12 PM, the victim reports explicit images were sent of them without consent.
Identity Theft – 1100 block of Contra Costa Drive:
At 2:17 PM, the victim reports their name was fraudulently signed to a document.
Battery – 430 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 7:35 PM, the victim reported being pushed by a suspect who fled prior to police arrival.
March 18th
Warrant Arrest – 11344 San Pablo Ave (Denny's)
At 2:26 AM, an officer arrested the subject for an arrest warrant. The subject was booked at El Cerrito Police Department and later transported to Martinez Detention Facility.
Possession of Controlled Substance/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Probation Violation – San Pablo Ave/Waldo Ave:
At 2:29 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the subject for being in possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.
Criminal Threats – 300 block of Coronado Street:
At 12:30 PM, the victim reports a suspect called and threatened the victim and their family.
Warrant Arrest/Possess Narcotics – 7022 Stockton Ave (7-Eleven)
At 3:15 PM, Officers located a wanted vehicle in the parking lot of 7-Eleven. The driver was contacted and detained. A records check revealed the suspect had three outstanding warrants. A search of the suspect revealed narcotics on their person. The suspect suffered a medical emergency and was transported to an area hospital where they were released from police custody.
Shoplifting/Possession of Controlled Substance/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Probation Violation – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 7:00 PM an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a subject for shoplifting. Search incident to arrest found the subject to be in possession of controlled substances, drug paraphernalia. The subject was issued a citation in the field and released.
March 19th
Auto Burglaries – 7000 block of Cutting Blvd:
At 2:35 AM, officers responded to an auto Burglary in progress and property had been stolen. Officers circulated the area and located numerous additional victim vehicles, however the suspects had fled the area.
Trespassing/Possess Narcotics Paraphernalia – 800 block of S. 55th Street:
At 8:51 AM, Officers arrested a suspect after they were found to be sleeping on the victim's property. The suspect was placed under arrest and narcotics equipment was located on their person. The suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Hate Crime/Criminal Threats – 3030 El Cerrito Plaza (Citibank):
At 9:40 AM, the victim reports they were approached by the victim who yelled racial slurs and threatened to shoot the victim multiple times.
Residential Burglary – 7000 block of Schmidt Lane:
At 10:39 AM, the victim reports their garage was entered and a bicycle was stolen.
Battery – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 5:01 PM, the victim reports a suspect threw clothing at them. A clothing tag struck the victim in the face causing injury.
Auto Burglary – El Cerrito Plaza:
At 9:39 PM, an officer reports the victim’s vehicle was broken into and property was stolen.
Stolen Vehicle – 400 block of Lexington Ave:
At 11:24 PM, an officer reports the victim’s vehicle was stolen.
March 20th
Stolen Vehicle - 6500 block of Gladys Ave:
At 6:02 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle.
March 21st
Recovered Stolen Vehicle - San Pablo Ave/Central Ave:
At 7:37 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and discovered the driver had three outstanding warrants. During a search the suspect was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and and drug paraphernalia. Upon further investigation officers discovered the vehicle the suspect was driving was reported stolen to the El Cerrito Police Department the day prior. After booking, the suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

At 11:57 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
