RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA

TIMING:
From 8 AM this morning to 11 PM EDT this evening.

WINDS:
Northeast 10 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

RELATIVE HUMIDITY:
As low as 15 percent.

IMPACTS:
Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

BUNCOMBE COUNTY HAS ISSUED A BAN ON OUTDOOR BURNING

RUMBLING BALD / LAKE LURE FIRE UPDATE:
Residents nearby may see or smell smoke.
The Town of Lake Lure, NC is pleased to report that containment lines are now in place. Crews will continue to monitor conditions throughout the night, and the NC Forest Service will resume work on the fire tomorrow with local firefighters.
