Press Release: Fatal Traffic Collision on March 28, 2026

On March 28, 2026, at approximately 1:42 a.m., Fremont Police Officers responded to a report of a solo-vehicle traffic collision involving a Dodge Challenger SRT on Grimmer Boulevard, between Irvington Avenue and Carol Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found the driver and sole passenger at the scene. The driver, an adult male, was transported to a nearby hospital for his injuries; however, the passenger, also an adult male, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The Fremont Police Traffic Unit took over the investigation into the collision. Preliminary findings indicate that the Dodge Challenger was traveling southbound on Grimmer Boulevard at a very high rate of speed. As it approached a curve in the roadway, the vehicle lost control and collided with a series of traffic barriers on the outside of the curve. The traffic barriers did not obstruct the lane of travel and were not a contributing factor to the collision. The exact cause of the collision is still being investigated, but drug or alcohol impairment has not been ruled out. The driver was arrested for vehicular manslaughter (CVC 192) and was booked into Santa Rita County Jail.

This is Fremont’s fifth fatal traffic collision in 2026.
