Monday Crash
A Monday morning crash caused Route 535 near NJ Turnpike Exit 8A to be closed for 30 minutes. The crash was reported at 11:42 AM and involved two vehicles. The crash forced one vehicle to overturn, briefly trapping the driver. Monmouth Junction Fire Department extricated the driver, who had minor injuries. South Brunswick EMS transported the driver to Penn Medicine at Princeton for treatment.
Friday Crash
A 64-year-old Somerset man was killed, and two others were injured in a three‑vehicle crash early Friday, March 27, on Route 130, according to police. The crash happened around 6:45 a.m. near Melrich Road.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the Somerset man had been ejected from his autocycle in the crash. Police and South Brunswick EMS personnel performed life-saving efforts before he was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he died from his injuries.
An investigation by the South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Bureau indicates the victim was driving a 2020 Spyder Autocycle on Route 130 South. As he approached the intersection at Melrich Road, a 58-year-old Freehold man was driving a 2024 Kia SUV north on Route 130 and attempting to make a left turn onto Melrich Road.
The Spyder autocycle struck the passenger side of the Kia and overturned, and struck a 2026 Honda Odyssey that was stopped at the stop sign on Melrich Road.
Following the initial impact, the victim was ejected. Two other people involved in the crash complained of pain and were taken to Penn Medicine at Princeton for treatment
