Chometz Disposal, Wednesday, 4/1
There will be a Chometz disposal drop-off service before Passover on Wednesday, April 1st, from 6:30 am -1:00 pm at the Department of Public Works, 444 Valentine Street.  Please follow regular recycling rules and separate garbage and chometz from recycling.  For additional information, please call 732-247-9379
 
Ask STAC Webinar, Monday, 4/6

Bone Density Screening, Tuesday, 4/7
Saint Peter’s University Hospital Community Health Services will be at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Ave to perform Bone Density Screenings from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.  To make an appointment, please call 732-819-0052.  Appointments are required.
 
Free Health Screening, Friday, 4/10
The American Preventive Screening & Education Association (APSEA) will be coming to Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Ave to promote awareness of diabetes and hypertension by offering screenings and educational resources from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Borough Council Meeting, Tuesday, 4/14 & 4/28
The Mayor and Council hold their regularly scheduled meetings pursuant to the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-8(b). Meetings are held in person at Borough Hall, 221 South 5th Avenue, Highland Park, NJ at 7:00 pm. As a convenience, the Borough provides the public the option to attend meetings remotely through Zoom. The meeting agenda and support materials are posted in Borough Hall and on the Borough website at least 48 hours before the scheduled meeting. 
 
Repair Café, Sunday, 4/19
Do you have a broken item that you just don’t have the heart to throw out or anything else that needs fixing? Well you’re in luck! Bring them to the Highland Park’s first ever Repair Café from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue. If you would like to volunteer on that day please complete form.
 
Learn and Create Series “POV Poetry”, Sunday, 4/19
The Highland Park Arts Commission invites you to another Learn and Create Series event “POV Poetry” on Sunday, April 19th from 2 – 4:00 pm at the Highland Park Public Library, 31 North 5th Avenue.  Poet Munsif Husami will guide participants through exercises that explore how identity is shaped by habit, hierarchy and context.  The session culminates in a generative writing workshop, and participants will walk away with a new draft poem.  All materials provided. Walk-ins welcome, this event is for ages 16+.
 
Park Partners Grant Program, Deadline Tuesday, 4/21
The Borough is now accepting applications for the 2026 Park Partners Program. Residents are invited to submit proposals for projects in five categories: Environment; Arts; Culture & Diversity; Safety, Universal Access, or Health & Wellness; and Highland Park High School student projects. Up to $2,000 will be awarded to one project in each category. Applications are due Tuesday, April 21 by 4:00 PM and should be submitted to Harry Glazer, Public Information Officer. New this year, the applications exhibition and voting session will be held at the Spring Street Fair on Sunday, May 3rd , 2026.
 
Kite Decorating with a Cop, Wednesday, 4/22
Fly high into spring and decorate kites with Highland Park’s finest while also enjoying a doughnut, and refreshments.  This event will be held from  4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue.  For more information, please contact Officer Fitzgerald at  [email protected].
 
Learn and Create Series “Haiku and the Dwarves”, Saturday, 4/25
The Highland Park Arts Commission is asking Highland Park residents to celebrate National Poetry month with them! Learn the art of haiku and short form poetry styles including tanka and cinquain presented by K. Desiree Milwood, the “Haiku Guru,” poet and author. This event will be held on Saturday, April 25th from 12 – 2:00 pm at the Highland Park Public Library, 31 North 5th Avenue.  All materials provided. Walk-ins welcome, this event is for ages 16+.

Save the Date:
Highland Park 5K, Sunday, 5/3
Join us for our annual Highland Park 5K Run in the Park (5K Race & Kids Races) on Sunday, May 3rd.  Come take a run, walk or stroll through the downtown and the beautiful neighborhoods of our borough for a great cause.  Race proceeds to benefit the Highland Park Public Schools PTOs. Registration is open.
 
Street Fair and Earth Day Fest, Sunday, 5/3
Highland Park's annual Spring Fling Street Fair coordinated by Main Street Highland Park, is back in partnership with Highland Park's Earth Day Fest. Join thousands of your neighbors and area residents for a day filled with fun activities for all ages.
 
Ongoing Programs:
Free Groceries from H.P. Gives a Hoot, Tuesdays, 4/7, 4/14, 4/21 & 4/28  and Wednesdays 4/1, 4/8, 4/15, 4/22 & 4/29
Highland Park Gives a Hoot offers free groceries to Highland Park families in need of support. Distributions are every Tuesday & Wednesday (except holidays) from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Zone 6/Teen Center, 600 Benner Street.
 
Highland Park Community Food Pantry Distribution, Thursdays 4/9 &   4/23 and Saturdays 4/11 & 4/25
The Highland Park Community Food Pantry distribution takes place at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 9:00 to 10:45 am and 6:00 to 7:00 pm and on the second and fourth Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:30 am. HP Rec Summer Camp Registration, Tuesday, 6/2 deadline
Registration for all HP Rec Summer Camps is open. All camp registration information can be found at highlandparkrec.com.
 
Need to apply to receive the reduced resident weekly camp rate? Email your free/reduced eligibility letter to [email protected] and they will  help you with that process. Please keep in mind, that your account must be set up with the discount prior to registering or creating a pre-registration form.
 
Highland Park Recreation Programs
Highland Park Recreation offers a variety of adult, youth and spring  programs. Families that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible for a 60% discount on all programs offered by the Borough. 

Farmers Market
The Highland Park Farmers Market coordinated by Main Street Highland Park brings fresh, local, homemade products from farmers and vendors across New Jersey.  The market is open every Friday through December 11th from 11:00 to 4:00 pm in, March, November and December and until 5:00 pm from April through October.  Shop for farm fresh produce, baked goods, artisanal products, and more while supporting local businesses and enjoying a vibrant community atmosphere.
