Man Attempts to Kidnap Woman as She Walks to Her Car; Suspect Later Located and Arrested

INCIDENT: P.C. 664/207 – Attempt Kidnapping
LOCATION: Victorville Courthouse, 14455 Civic Drive, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Esteban Martinez, 39-year-old resident of Alhambra
VICTIM(S): 42-year-old Female
SUMMARY: On Monday, March 30, 2026, at approximately 8:39 a.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping at the Victorville Courthouse parking lot.
Deputies learned as the victim walked to her vehicle, she was approached by a male suspect seated in a Mercedes-Benz. The suspect ordered the victim multiple times to get into his vehicle and displayed what appeared to be a weapon. The victim walked away and contacted law enforcement. Deputies located the suspect vehicle in a nearby parking lot. The suspect, Esteban Martinez, was detained. Deputies searched the vehicle and located a sheathed knife; no firearm was located.
Esteban Martinez was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto for P.C. 664/207 – Attempt Kidnapping.
