OLD FORT WOMAN CHARGED AFTER KIDS IN HOME TEST POSITIVE FOR DRUGS
Detective Billie Brown with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 31-year-old Avorie West of Old Fort with felony Exposing a Child to a Controlled Substance. She was issued a $150,000 secured bond.
In early February, Det. Brown received a referral from the McDowell County Department of Social Services involving West and two children who lived with her. The children tested positive for controlled substances in their systems.
During the investigation, Det. Brown determined that West had used marijuana and methamphetamine in the presence of the children, leading to the charges.
