Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that the following streets will be closed during the hours below due to the City of Newark’s Drive Up and Go Food Distribution event:
Beginning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, April 8, 2026
South Orange Avenue between South 17th Street and Grove Street
South 20th Street between Ferdinand Street and South Orange Avenue
South 19th Street between 14th Avenue and 13th Avenue
South 18th Street between 14th Avenue and 13th Avenue
The food drive begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at South Orange Avenue and South 19th Street.
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding criminal activities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
