Amarillo Crime Stoppers - Homicide Investigation - Public Assistance Needed
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, at approximately 2:55 a.m., Amarillo Police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 800 block of S. Maryland Street. Upon arrival, officers located multiple spent cartridge casings in the street and surrounding yard areas. Inside the residence, officers found Moneke Denice Glass (40) suffering from gunshot wounds. Ms. Glass was inside her home, sleeping at the time of the shooting, and was not the intended target. Life-saving measures were performed until Amarillo Medical Services arrived. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
This case is currently being investigated by APD Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigation. Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. to check for any video footage from surveillance systems, doorbell cameras, or nearby businesses that may have captured suspicious activity.
