Detective Kyle Gibson with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 33-year-old Dakota Wayne Mace of Marion with felony Breaking-and-Entering. He was issued a secured bond of $500,000.
On Thursday, March 19, Det. Gibson conducted a routine property check in Marion after the (vacant) home had been reported for multiple break-in attempts.
Upon arrival, Det. Gibson noticed a rear sliding door of the home was open with a bag placed at the entrance. He also noticed a breaker box opened with the main breaker switched off.
Upon entering the residence, Mace attempted to exit from the same door and but was apprehended by Det. Gibson.
Mace was placed under arrest and taken into custody after his “crime of opportunity” attempt failed him.
