TORDTX The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a

* Tornado Warning for... Northwestern Wayne County in southeastern Michigan...

* Until 615 PM EDT.

* At 548 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Belleville, or 7 miles southeast of Ypsilanti, moving northeast at 45 mph. HAZARD...Tornado. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near... Taylor, Romulus, Canton, and Dearborn around 555 PM EDT. Wyandotte and Greenfield Village around 600 PM EDT. Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Inkster, Wayne, Melvindale, Ecorse, Allen Park, Dearborn Heights, New Boston, Lincoln Park, Southgate, and Garden City. This includes the following highways... I-75 between mile markers 35 and 44. I-275 between mile markers 13 and 21. I-94 between mile markers 188 and 209. I-96 near mile marker 183. M-39 between mile markers 6 and 10.

* AFFECTED AREAS: WAYNE, MI

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. This cluster of thunderstorms is capable of producing tornadoes and significant wind damage. Do not wait to see or hear the tornado. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
