Kolekole Pass Morning Commute Access
Kolekole Pass will be opened as an emergency route for drivers exiting the Waiʻanae Coast (eastbound) on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Hours: 5:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Direction: One-way only toward Central Oʻahu via Nānākuli
This temporary access is being coordinated by the State Department of Transportation, City and County of Honolulu, and the U.S. Army and Navy to help relieve traffic impacts from ongoing water main repairs along Farrington Highway.
What to expect:
• Use is limited to morning outbound traffic from the Waiʻanae Coast
• Route exits through Schofield Barracks
• Expect heavier traffic on Wilikina Drive and Kunia Road
• Continue to drive with caution, especially along impacted areas of Farrington Highway
HDOT currently expects Farrington Highway to be passable for the afternoon commute, though conditions may continue to change as repair work progresses.
