For Immediate Release by Kelsey McCarthy, Community Engagement Liaison
On Sunday, April 5, 2026, at approximately 7:59 p.m., officers from the Petaluma Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle performing reckless “donuts” in the parking lot of Boulevard Bowl.
Upon arrival, officers learned the driver had lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a nearby ditch before fleeing the scene on foot. Through investigation, officers identified the driver as Jamie Gipson (44, Petaluma) and subsequently located him at his nearby residence.
Gipson displayed objective signs of alcohol intoxication. Further investigation revealed he had at least three prior DUI arrests within the past 10 years and was currently on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).
Gipson was arrested and booked at the Sonoma County Jail for the following charges:
- Felony DUI
- Reckless Driving (Alcohol Related)
- Hit and Run
- PRCS Violation
The Petaluma Police Department remains committed to proactive enforcement and public safety as DUI drivers pose a significant risk to themselves and others. We encourage community members to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
We would also like to remind our community to utilize a rideshare service, taxi, or designate a sober driver if consuming alcohol. Driving under the influence puts everyone at risk.
