SUSPECT: Sheila Dash, 42-year-old, Resident of Big Bear
SUMMARY: A 42-year-old woman was arrested for suspected driving under the influence, after colliding with a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s patrol unit on April 6, 2026, at approximately 9:43 p.m., at the intersection of Corwin Road and Dale Evans Parkway in the Town of Apple Valley.
The preliminary investigation indicates Sheila Dash, a resident of Big Bear, was driving a gray Toyota RAV4 westbound on Corwin Road toward Dale Evans Parkway. A sheriff’s sergeant was traveling southbound on Dale Evans Parkway through the intersection.
Dash failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered the intersection at a high rate of speed, colliding with the patrol unit. Following the collision, Dash’s vehicle overturned. The sheriff’s sergeant was not injured.
During the investigation, Dash displayed signs and symptoms consistent with alcohol impairment. Dash was transported to a local hospital for treatment. After receiving medical clearance, Dash was arrested for driving under the influence and booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
Investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Regional Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded and assumed the investigation. Corwin Road, between Dale Evans Parkway and Waalew Road, was closed for approximately three and a half hours while investigators processed the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
