The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from March 22nd to March 28th.
March 22nd
Driving Under the Influence - Carlson Blvd/Central Ave:
At 1:32 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
March 23rd
Stolen Vehicle - 900 Block of Lexington Ave:
At 12:48 AM, an officer reports an officer from the Richmond Police Department located the victim’s unreported stolen vehicle.
Suspicious Package – San Pablo Avenue/Hill Street:
At 2:00 PM, Officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious package. The Walnut Creek Police Department Bomb Squad responded and the package was determined to not be a threat to the community and was removed.
March 24th
Warrant arrest – 1400 Block of Everett Street:
At 9:24 AM, Detectives arrested a subject on a warrant for a residential burglary case.
Theft by False Pretenses – 11000 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 9:35 AM, the victim reports they were swindled out of money.
Assault – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway)
At 3:18 PM, the victim reports they were assaulted while in the establishment.
Warrant Arrest/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Possession of Narcotics – 11821 San Pablo Ave:
At 7:41 PM, an officer reports the arrest of a subject with a felony arrest warrant. Search incident to arrest located drug paraphernalia and suspected narcotics. The subject was transported to El Cerrito Police Department for booking. The subject was issued a citation on the new charges and transported to Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center for a medical issue. After obtaining medical clearance the subject was transported to Martinez Detention Facility.
March 25th
Recovered Stolen Property – 11755 San Pablo Ave:
At 12:31 AM, an officer located a reported stolen license plate.
Stolen Vehicle – 1400 Block of Lawrence Street:
At 10:12 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen.
Stolen Vehicle – 6400 block of Knott Ave:
At 1:41 PM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen.
Petty Theft – 11687 San Pablo Ave (Grand Gas Station):
At 8:24 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole merchandise from the store and fled.
March 26th
Petty Theft - 11048 San Pablo Ave (Harbor Freight Tools):
At 11:57 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect exited the business with unpaid merchandise and fled.
Attempt Theft/Battery - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 2:00 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect attempted to take merchandise, but was confronted by store employees. As employees were escorting the suspect out of the store, they struck an employee.
March 27th
Robbery – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 6:40 PM, officers were dispatched to a report of a robbery. Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect in front of the business. Officers learned that the suspect punched an employee and was pepper sprayed during the incident. The suspect was taken to the hospital and medically cleared before being transported to the Martinez Detention Facility for booking.
Possession of a Concealed Firearm – Arlington Blvd at Madera Dr:
At 8:40 PM, an officer reports that during a traffic enforcement stop, a passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of a concealed firearm. The subject was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking and later released on citation.
March 28th
Driving Under the Influence – South 55th Street/Potrero Avenue:
At 6:50 AM, officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle blocking the roadway. Upon arrival, it was determined the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated and had parked their vehicle in the traffic lane. A DUI investigation was conducted, and a suspect was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then cited to a sober family member.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle/Drive on Suspended License/Theft with Priors/Parole Violation – San Pablo Ave/Ohio St:
At 11:44 AM, officers responded to the area for a FLOCK hit on a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested for possessing the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner. A records check revealed the driver was also driving on a suspended driver's license, had numerous prior convictions for theft, and was on Post Release Community Supervision after having been released from prison less than one week ago. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Warrant Arrest - Eastshore Blvd/Potrero Ave:
At 10:58 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and discovered the driver had an outstanding warrant out of Oakland PD. The driver was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
