Recovered Stolen Vehicle and Resisting/Delay/Obstructing Peace Officers
HPD Officers attempted to contact two suspicious vehicles that were parked on the 700 block of Chateau Drive. Upon contact, one of the suspects fled on foot from HPD Officers and ran through the back yards of multiple residences. The other suspect subsequently entered one of the vehicles and fled the scene. With the assistance of other San Mateo County law enforcement agencies, an extensive yard to yard search was conducted with negative results. Investigators sought multiple search warrants, reviewed Automated License Plate Recognition Cameras, and are working to identify the suspects.

The homeowner reported that they had left their home approximately two hours earlier and upon returning they saw that a living room glass window had been shattered and their house had been ransacked. Approximately $37,000 worth of property was reported stolen. While canvasing the scene, HPD Officers located burglary tools left behind by the suspect. The items were submitted to the San Mateo County Crime Lab for analysis and on 3/4/26, a suspect was identified through his DNA. Investigators obtained a $100,000 arrest warrant for the suspect, a resident of Redwood City. The suspect was in custody for an unrelated crime and was re-booked on the Hillsborough arrest warrant.
