LOCATION: 12000 Block of Bryant St., Yucaipa
DECEDENT 1: Stephan James Slivka Jr., 66-years-old, Resident of Yucaipa
DECEDENT 2: Rodney (Rody) Lee Chanadet, 68-years-old, Resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Yucaipa deputies responded to the 12000 block of Bryant Street, Yucaipa, for a medical aid call. Upon arrival deputies located both Stephan James Slivka Jr. and Rodney Lee Chanadet with apparent gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail also responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Through investigation, detectives believe Slivka and Chanadet struck each other with gunfire, Slivka succumbed to his injuries and Chanadet shot himself after sustaining a gunshot wound. The investigation remains ongoing.
