The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from March 29th to April 4th.     
 
March 29th
Driving Under the Influence - 6060 Central Ave (Nations):
At 1:09 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend.

Driving Under the Influence - Cutting Blvd/S. 49th St:
At 3:04 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Richmond Street/Potrero Avenue:
At 6:01 AM, officers responded to a report of several subjects in ski masks looking into vehicles.  Upon arrival, a vehicle was located with damage that indicated it might be stolen.  San Pablo Police contacted the registered owner and determined the vehicle was an unreported stolen vehicle from their city.  The vehicle was ecovered and returned to it's owner.

Burglary – 6500 block of Manila Ave:
At 4:55 PM, a suspect was arrested inside an apartment he had entered by removing a window screen and climbing in through the window while the occupants were home.  Booked at the El Cerrito Police Department then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vandalism - 500 Block of Everett St:
An officer reports an unknown suspect damaged the victim’s front screen door.
 
Warrant Arrest - 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 7:56 PM, officers patrolling in the area recognized a subject that they knew had two outstanding warrants. The officers detained the subject and issued him a citation with a new court date then released the subject from the scene.

March 30th
Criminal Threats - 10173 San Pablo Ave (Popeyes):
At 11:09 PM, an officer reports the suspect went to the business and knocked on the drive through window and demanded free food. When an employee told the suspect the business was closed and they no longer give away free food the suspect became upset and made threats to the employee. The suspect was placed under citizen’s arrest and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
 
March 31st
Warrant Arrest - 11700 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 12:14 AM, officers responded to an apartment for a subject who called 911 over seven times within an hour. Upon arrival officers recognized one of the occupants of the apartment to have two active warrants. The subject was take into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto Burglary – 3200 Block of Santa Clara Ave:
At 10:04 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was broken into and items were taken.

April 1st
Possession of controlled substance/possession of drug paraphernalia/probation violation – 11755 San Pablo Ave:
At 12:50 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the subject for being in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The subject was transported to El Cerrito Police Department for booking. The subject was issued a citation and released.

Residential Burglary/Vandalism – 800 Block of S. 55th Street:
At 9:06 AM, the victim reports their residence was broken into and several items were damaged.

Residential Burglary – 2500 Block of Tulare Ave:
At 10:03 AM, the victim reports a suspect entered their residence and took items.

Forgery – 11299 San Pablo Ave:
At 6:25 PM, an officer reports the suspect attempted to use a fictious bill to purchase items.

Recovered Property – 400 Block of Ashbury Ave:
At 8:36 PM, an officer recovered a reported stolen license plate.

April 2nd
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 6500 Block of Manila Ave:
At 9:55 AM, Officers located a previously reported stolen vehicle.  

Petty Theft/Prior Convictions of theft/possession of drug paraphernalia – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls):
At 8:10 PM, an officer accepted the citizens arrest of a subject who was caught shoplifting. During a search incident to arrest drug paraphernalia was located on the subject. The subject was booked at El Cerrito Police Department where it was discovered he had multiple prior theft convictions. The subject was transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

April 3rd 
Vehicle Theft – 1200 block of Everett St:
At 11:01 AM, an officer reports theft of a vehicle sometime overnight.

Battery – 10770 San Pablo Ave (Stiiizy):
At 12:52 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect got into an argument with security after a return was denied.  When asked to leave the store, the suspect struck a security guard on the way out.

Petty Theft/Theft with Priors – 5805 Cutting Blvd (Skechers):
At 1:37 PM, an officer reports a known repeat offender stole merchandise and fled prior to police arrival.  Store employees recognized the suspect from repeated thefts from the store. Officers circulated the area but the suspect was not located.  A case will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for review.

Juvenile Possess Controlled Substance/Resist Officer – San Pablo Ave/Carlson Blvd:
At 2:00 PM, an officer detained a juvenile in possession of marijuana.  The juvenile resisted being taken into custody.  The juvenile was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department then released to parent with juvenile citation.

Vandalism – 235 El Cerrito Plaza (Xfinity Store):
At 3:45 PM, an officer reports an identified customer slammed the door on the way out and shattered the glass.

Vehicle Theft – 800 block of Richmond St:
At 3:53 PM, an officer reports the theft of a vehicle between 7:00 PM on 4/2 and 6:30 AM on 4/3. 

Assault with a Deadly Weapon - 11382 San Pablo Ave (Atlas Liquors):
At 10:49 PM, an officer reports two subjects were in a verbal argument when the suspect stuck the victim with an object. The victim was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. 
 
Trespass - 800 Block of S. 55th St:
At 11:05 PM, an officer reports the suspect hopped over the victim’s fence and occupied the backyard without the victim’s permission. Responding officers contacted the suspect in the yard and detained them. The suspect has done this on several occasions and was placed under Citizen’s Arrest by the victim. After booking, the suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

April 4th
Driving Under the Influence - Cutting Blvd/ S. 50th St:
At 2:19 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.

Vehicle Tampering – 10770 San Pablo Ave:
At 8:55 AM, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a suspect the victim caught rummaging through their vehicle. The subject was issued a citation and relaesed at the scene.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave/Conlon Ave:
At 5:04 PM, an officer arrested a suspect on a San Pablo Police Department warrant during a traffic stop. An Officer from the San Pablo Police Department responded and the subject was turned over to them.
