DUI Driver Arrested after Fleeing from Police
On April 12, 2026, at approximately 1:24 AM, Petaluma Police Department officers observed a gray BMW committing multiple traffic violations in the area of N. Water Street and E. Washington Street. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, at which time the driver fled, prompting officers to initiate a vehicle pursuit.
The pursuit covered approximately two miles through city streets, during which the driver reached excessive speeds and disregarded multiple traffic control devices.
The vehicle pursuit concluded in the area of Ponderosa Drive, where the driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers gave chase and apprehended the suspect approximately a quarter of a mile away near the Baywood Apartment complex.
The driver was identified as Logan Jimenez, 22, of Petaluma. During the investigation, officers observed objective signs of alcohol and drug intoxication. Field Sobriety Tests were conducted, and probable cause was established that Jimenez had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. A suspected controlled substance was also located on his person.
Jimenez was placed under arrest and booked at the Sonoma County Jail on the following charges:
- Felony Evading a Peace Officer with Wanton Disregard for Safety CVC 2800.2(A)
- DUI – Combined Drugs and Alcohol CVC 23152(G)
- Reckless Driving on a Highway CVC 23103(A)
- Obstruct/Resist a Peace Officer PC 148(A)(1)
- Possession of a Narcotic Controlled Substance HS 11350(A)
