Local Area Schools Swatting Update
Local Area Schools Swatting Update
Earlier today, the Mount Holly Police Department received a threat call involving our local schools.
As with any threat involving a school, this matter was treated with the utmost seriousness from the moment it was received. Our officers responded immediately, and the Department followed all established safety protocols, notification procedures, and reporting measures. Out of an abundance of caution, an increased police presence was maintained at the schools to help ensure the safety of our students, staff, and the community.
Based on the information presently available, this incident appears consistent with a broader pattern affecting multiple schools in the area. At this time, there is no known active threat to Mount Holly schools. Even so, these matters are never taken lightly, and every appropriate precaution was taken.
We are continuing to coordinate with our local, county, state and federal law enforcement partners and school officials as the investigation moves forward. To protect the integrity of that investigation, no further details will be released at this time beyond what is appropriate for public safety.
We understand how concerning a call like this is for parents, students, staff, and the entire community. At this time, there is no indication that parents should take any action other than to follow official updates from the MHPD / MHT School Administration. If that guidance changes, we will notify the community immediately. Please know this situation was handled carefully, seriously, and with the safety of our children as the top priority.
We appreciate the cooperation, patience, and support of our residents, school staff, and families. Should any additional public safety information need to be shared, we will provide an update through official channels.
