...The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids MI has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Michigan... Muskegon River At Evart affecting Osceola County. Muskegon River at Newaygo affecting Newaygo County. Muskegon River Near Croton affecting Newaygo County. Muskegon River at Bridgeton affecting Newaygo County. .Generally 2-4 inches of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours in the headwaters areas of the Muskegon River. As this water drains through the river system, widespread flooding is expected. Additional rounds of rain over the next several days will continue to make the flooding situation worse on the Muskegon River.
* WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record.
* WHERE...Muskegon River at Evart.
* WHEN...From late tonight until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Expect major flooding in subdivisions along the Muskegon River upstream of Evart. At 14.5 feet, High water affects the Sewage Treatment Plant.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:15 AM EDT Monday the stage was 10.8 feet. - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage just after midnight tonight and continue rising to a crest of 15.0 feet early Friday morning. - Flood stage is 12.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 15.0 feet on 03/31/1989. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
