VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: At approximately 12:40 p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Barstow Station, along with personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department, responded to the area of Westridge Street and Tami Road, near Harvard, regarding a multi-acre brush fire.
Upon arrival, deputies were contacted by a witness who reported seeing a possible suspect responsible for igniting the fire, later identified as Raymond Mann. Mann was observed walking into a field, kneeling down, and setting fire to a bush. Due to high winds in the area, the fire rapidly spread across several acres.
Several minutes later, the victim observed Mann standing outside her residence, yelling. She also discovered a bag of her laundry near the front door had been set on fire, along with a separate burn area on her front lawn. Deputies determined Mann had fled to a nearby residence, where they later contacted him and found him in possession of a lighter. A total of 15 acres of dried brush was burned according to fire personnel.
Mann was arrested on charges of PC451(C) - Arson, PC452(C) - Cause fire of a structure, and transported to the High Desert Detention Center.
