The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, APRIL 06, 2026:
 
2:10 AM Officer C. Torres responded to a hit-and-run injury collision near Cherry St & Dairy Ave. An 18-year-old male subject was arrested for hit and run, driving while intoxicated, and resisting a peace officer. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
4:50 AM Officer Kim investigated a hit-and-run traffic collision reported near Cedar Blvd and Cedar Court.
 
6:42 AM Officer S. Torres responded to a fire incident near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave. The case is being investigated as an arson.
 
10:00 AM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau investigated a theft reported near Spruce St & Mayhews Landing Road. Cash was reported taken from a bedroom.
 
8:26 PM Officer Taylor responded to an attempted vehicle theft reported near Mirabeau Dr & Cedar Blvd.
 
8:30 PM Officer Norvell investigated the theft reported near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave.
 
TUESDAY, APRIL 07, 2026:
 
1:57 AM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to battery reported near Cedar Blvd & Newpark Mall Road. A 33-year-old male, was arrested for domestic violence and false imprisonment. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for further processing.
 
9:21 AM Officers Losier and Shaffer conducted a pedestrian stop near Stevenson & Cedar Boulevards. A 48-year-old female and 31-year-old male were arrested for possession of narcotics, and a probation violation. Both were transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
5:11 PM Officer Cervantes responded to a disturbance reported near at Balentine Dr & Cedar Blvd. A 56-year-old male was arrested for trespassing. He was booked transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 08, 2026:
 
6:34 AM Officer Diaz-Perez conducted to a welfare check near Thornton Ave & Arden St. A 28-year-old male was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:30 PM Officers conducted a pedestrian stop near Baine Ave & Cherry St. A 22-year-old male was arrested for vandalism, an outstanding warrant, violation of probation, and possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:23 PM Officer Medina conducted a traffic stop near Thornton Ave & Newark Blvd for a driver that ran a red light. A 28-year-old male was cited for driving on a suspended license.
 
11:09 PM Officer Orozco conducted a pedestrian stop near Cedar Blvd & Balentine Dr. A 30-year-old-male, was arrested for possession of narcotics, in violation of probation terms. He was subsequently arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
 
THURSDAY, APRIL 09, 2026:
 
4:18 AM Officer Orozco recovered a stolen vehicle on Joaquin Murieta Ave.
 
4:22 AM Officer Pacheco investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Mowry Ave & Cedar Blvd. Reported loss included tools.
 
7:23 AM, Officer Diaz-Perez investigated multiple window smash vehicle burglaries reported near Balentine Dr & Stevenson Blvd. Reported losses included tools.
 
8:03 AM Officer Frentescu conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Cedar Blvd & Haley St. and recovered a stolen license plate.
 
10:50 AM Animal Control Officer (ACO) Fejarang investigated an animal bite reported near Moores Ave & Cedar Blvd.
 
3:48 PM CSO Lau investigated an identity theft and forged check incident.
 
8:36 PM Officer Felix responded to a battery reported near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 44-year-old male was arrested for battery, weapons violation, and resisting arrest. The individual was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
9:03 PM CSO Lau investigated a vehicle theft reported near Seawind Way & Hickory St.
 
9:36 PM CSO Mora investigated an attempted vehicle theft located at Newpark Mall Road. Damage to the vehicle's ignition, a changed key and tire damage were observed.
 
FRIDAY, APRIL 10, 2026:
 
6:43 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a window smash vehicle burglary reported near John Muir Dr & Newpark Mall Road.
 
6:51 AM Officer Cervantes investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Cedar Blvd & Lafayette Ave. Several professional tools and a toolbelt were reported taken.
 
3:35 PM Officer Herrera investigated a vehicle burglary and brandishing of a firearm reported near Balentine Dr & Stevenson Blvd. Stolen items were recovered on scene, and the incident is pending further investigation.
 
7:31 PM Officer Berlanga investigated a retail theft reported near Thornton Ave & Newark Blvd.
 
SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 2026:
 
1:56 AM Officer Swadener conducted a traffic stop near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 37-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and was transported to Santa Rita Jail.
 
2:56 AM Officer Benjamin conducted a welfare check near Newark Blvd and Thornton Ave. A 37-year-old male was exhibiting signs of being under the influence of alcohol. The individual was arrested for disorderly conduct and was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
10:50 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a report of mail theft on Mayhews Landing Road.
 
SUNDAY, APRIL 12, 2026:

1:11 AM Officer Berlanga responded to a residential burglary reported near Cedar Blvd & Forbes Dr. A window was discovered as the point of entry. Reported losses included personal items, jewelry and cash.
 
3:05 AM Officer Shaffer investigated a vehicle theft reported near Port Sailwood Dr & Cedar Blvd.
 
6:44 AM Officer Lor investigated a commercial burglary reported on Newpark Mall Road.
