Full Notification

On April 14, 2026, at approximately 1640 hours, the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the area of Cochran Street east of Stearns Street reference a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.  Upon arrival, officers located a female adult, 89 years of age, who had been walking across Cochran Street and had been struck by the vehicle. The female sustained significant/life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by Ventura County Fire Department personnel.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with officers during the investigation. According to the initial information and the preliminary investigation, it appears the female adult was walking south across Cochran Street when she was struck by the vehicle which was traveling east on Cochran Street. At this time, there is nothing to indicate drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash. The identity of the victim is being withheld until notification of next of kin.
