Township-Wide Boil Water Advisory Still In Effect
The South Brunswick Township Water Department is issuing a system-wide Boil Water Advisory effective immediately.
A water main break occurred at 4300 Route 1 (Route 1 & Dow Jones), causing a significant loss of pressure throughout the service area. A potential threat to water quality may exist; as a precaution, this advisory will remain in effect until testing confirms the water supply is safe.
Current Progress Update:
- New Road/Freedom Trail: Repairs to this second main break are now complete.
- Route 1: Crews continue to work on the primary break and anticipate making significant progress today.
- Township-Wide: Water pressure remains functional throughout the Township.
What should I do?
Do not drink the water without boiling it first. Bring all tap water to a rolling boil for one minute and let it cool before using, or use bottled water.
Use boiled or bottled water for:
- Drinking and brushing teeth
- Washing fruits and vegetables
- Preparing food, juices, or baby formula
- Making ice and washing dishes
- Food/Ice: Discard any ice, uncooked food, or beverages made with tap water on the day of this advisory.
- Bathing: Do not swallow water while showering or bathing.
- Dishwashing: Use the hot wash and dry cycles on your dishwasher, or rinse hand-washed dishes with a diluted bleach solution (one tablespoon per gallon of water).
- Filters: Do not rely on home filtering devices; most do not remove microorganisms.
- Pets: Provide pets with boiled and cooled water.
- Injuries: Use only boiled water to treat minor wounds.
