Redwood City Police Department DUI Checkpoint on April 18th, 2026
Redwood City, California – On April 18, 2026, the Redwood City Police Department will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) Checkpoint between 6:00 P.M. and 2:00 A.M. at El Camino Real near Hopkins Ave., then Woodside Rd. near Alameda De Las Pulgas.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.
“Impaired drivers put themselves and others on the road at significant risk,” Redwood City Chief of Police Kristina Bell said. “It’s a choice. If you’ve been drinking or taken drugs that impair, make the right choice by finding a sober driver or alternate transportation to take you places.”
The Redwood City Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
