While monitoring the store’s video surveillance cameras, an SAO deputy and Loss Prevention Specialist observed an adult female suspect concealing multiple items of unpaid clothing beneath her shirt and within her pants. The SAO deputy quickly radioed the Duarte SAO and DA Investigator teams about her observations and provided them with a description of the suspect. After wandering around the store, the suspect walked past the cash registers and exited through the front entrance without paying for the merchandise.
With both the SAO and DA Investigator teams positioned right outside Target, the suspect was detained pending a shoplifting investigation. As the suspect removed the unpaid items from her person, an SAO deputy discovered two clear plastic baggies containing a substance resembling methamphetamine, which was concealed in the crease of a pair of stolen pants. Consequently, the suspect was charged with possession of a controlled substance and shoplifting.
