Wilmington Police have arrested a man on drug charges following a vehicle stop.
On April 10th at approximately 10:38 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division conducted a vehicle stop in the area of West 5th and North Dupont Streets in reference to an equipment violation. Officers attempted to make contact with the driver, at which time he fled the area on foot. A short time later the subject was taken into custody without further incident and identified as 28-year-old Jayquan Gonzalez. Officers recovered 11 grams of crack cocaine and 0.87 grams of heroin.
Gonzalez has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic citations:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver (Tier 2)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
- Resisting Arrest
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.
