Wilmington Police have arrested three men on drug charges.
On April 14th at approximately 12:52 p.m., members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were in the area of West 8th and North Monroe Streets when they observed three male subjects engaged in a drug-related activity. Officers made contact with 20-year-old Kwahlik Hopkins-Bey, 26-year-old Markivis Jenkins and 28-year-old Kawon Spencer-Taylor, all three were taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered 25.9 grams of crack cocaine, .15 grams of heroin, 1 dose of Oxycodone, 1 dose of Alprazolam, 2.5 ounces of Promethazine and $1,722.00 in U.S. currency.
Hopkins-Bey has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver (Tier 2)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Tier 2)
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $38,000 secured-bail.
Jenkins has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver (Tier 2)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Tier 2)
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Two Counts
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $38,400 secured-bail.
Spencer-Taylor has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver (Tier 2)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Tier 2)
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $38,200 cash-only bail.
