Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that the following streets will be closed during the hours below due to the City of Newark’s Drive Up and Go Food Distribution event:
Beginning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, April 22, 2026
• Sanford Avenue between South Orange Ave. and Lanark Ave.
• Marion Ave. between Poe Ave. and Sanford Ave.
• Finlay Pl. between Vail St. and Sanford Ave.
• Kenmore Ave. between Sanford Ave. and Vail St.
The food drive begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at Sanford Avenue and Marion Avenue.
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding criminal activities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
