The South Brunswick Police Department is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at approximately 7:00 p.m. on New Road near the intersection of Route 1 South.
The initial investigation indicates that a 2017 Toyota Camry attempted to make a left turn from the Route 1 South off-ramp onto New Road to proceed eastbound across Route 1. During this maneuver, a 2025 Audi Q5, which had just crossed Route 1 and was traveling westbound on New Road, was struck on its passenger side by the front of the Camry.
As a result of the collision, the Audi lost control and overturned. The driver of the Audi, a 21-year-old male from Branchburg, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Kendall Park Fire Department also responded to the scene. The crash resulted in the closure of New Road for approximately five hours while emergency crews worked and investigators processed the scene.
